Version 0.4.1
Psychoborg » Devlog
It took me about 3 weeks to get in all these new features. I really wanted to make some bigger changes to the game to try and make things slightly more interesting. It was pretty hard deciding what to add and how to implement them, but I learned a lot and am satisfied with the new mechanic prototypes. Below are a list of the new features and how to use them:
Energy Bar
- Every hit to an enemy gets you 1 energy, to a maximum of 100%
- Holding energy at 100% will give you a boost to your damage as long as you keep it at 100%
Heal
- Use the heal button to heal yourself once you reach 100% energy. You can heal for 1 HP by using all 100% of the energy
- Max health has been reduced from 10 to 4 to accommodate and balance the new heal mechanic
- It takes about 1 second to heal, and you get slowed down a lot while healing, but you can cancel or dash out of it at any time
Gun
- The gun is still heavily under construction, but is currently functional
- Activated by holding down aim key. It auto-aims at the nearest enemy. It will switch targets if some other enemy gets closer while you're holding it down, so be careful when you shoot
- The shot is intended to kill any regular enemy instantly
- It takes 10% of your energy to shoot your shot
- If you dash-shoot it pops off 2 shots at once to the nearest 2 enemies. Not sure why yet! It's either a bug or a feature
Stabber
- The stabber will look at you, charge up for 1 second, and then stab at you by dashing forward.
- It will damage you while it's stabbing
- You can dash through it while it's stabbing to avoid the damage
Other fun stuff
- There is a hit pause when you get hit by an enemy now, so it is very easy for you to understand exactly what damaged you
- When you're at 1 HP there is a clear effect to give you that feedback
- There is a volume slider in the pause menu
- Added some creepy menu music
